N2Women

We are delighted to contribute to this N2Women panel event with the aim of highlighting challenges and acheivements during COVID-19 by some of female professionals in the field of academics and research. N2Women (Networking Networking Women) is a discipline-specific community of researchers in the fields of networking and communications. N2Women encourages diversity and aims at fostering connections among under-represented women in this computing sub-field.

Panelists

Dr. Cristina Rottondi, Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of Politecnico di Torino (Italy).

Bio: Dr. Cristina Rottondi received both Bachelor and Master Degrees “cum laude” in Telecommunications Engineering and a PhD in Information Engineering from Politecnico di Milano (Italy) in 2008, 2010 and 2014 respectively. From 2015 to 2018 she had a research appointment at the Dalle Molle Institute for Artificial Intelligence (IDSIA) in Lugano, Switzerland. She is currently Assistant Professor at the Department of Electronics and Telecommunications of Politecnico di Torino (Italy). Her research interests include optical networks planning and networked music performance. She is co-recipient of three best paper awards (IWIS 2020, DRCN 2017, Online GreenCom 2014), of one excellent paper award (ICUFN2017) and of the 2020 Charles Kao award. In 2020 she has been included in the list of the top 10 “Rising Stars in Computer Networking and Communications” by the N^2 Women Association.

Dr. Mahima Agumbe Suresh, Assistant Professor at the Department of Computer Engineering of San Jose State University

Bio: Dr. Mahima Agumbe Suresh is an Assistant Professor at San Jose State University. She received her PhD from the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Texas A&M University in December 2015. After her PhD, she was a postdoctoral researcher at Xerox Research Labs, India and a visiting assistant professor at Texas A&M University. Her research interests include Cyber-Physical Systems, Internet of Things, and Data Analytics for Smart City Applications and Augmented Reality for Safety and Education.

Dr. Poongadi M., Post Doctorate Research Scientist from College of Science and Engineering, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha, Qatar

Bio: Dr. Poongadi M. is a Post Doctorate Research Scientist from College of Science and Engineering, Hamad Bin Khalifa University, Doha, Qatar having expertise in many research areas, published various Top Q1 journals IEEE Access, IEEE INFOCOM, IEEE 5G World Forum and many Q1 papers are in queue like IEEE Communication Magazine, IEEE Transactions. She has obtained her Doctorate degree PhD in the area of Information security from Anna University, Chennai and She has published, in-print and are in queue more than 50 research articles in reputed SCI / SCOPUS journals and conferences in the areas of blended areas Network Security, IoT, Machine Learning , deep learning etc. Her research interest is also extended in the areas of network analysis using Social Networking, Mobile Computing, Web services, 4G communication, Cloud Computing, and Information Security through anomaly detection.

Dr. Sanju Tiwari, Senior Researcher at Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas

Bio: Dr. Sanju Tiwari is a Senior Researcher at Universidad Autonoma de Tamaulipas (70 years old University), Mexico. She is DAAD Post-Doc-Net AI Fellow for 2021. She is an Adjunct Professor at Vardhman Engineering College, Hyderabad in Computer Science department. She is also appointed as Ph.D. Co-Supervisor at Rai University, Gujarat, India. She has worked as a Post-Doctoral Researcher in Ontology Engineering Group, Universidad Polytecnica De Madrid, Spain. Prior to this, she has worked as a Research Associate for a sponsored research project “Intelligent Real time Situation Awareness and Decision Support System for Indian Defence” funded by DRDO, New Delhi in Department of Computer Applications, National Institute of Technology, Kurukshetra. Her current research interests include, Ontology Engineering, Knowledge Graphs, Linked Data Generation and Publication, Semantic Web, Reasoning with SPARQL and Machine Intelligence. She has to-date published 26 research papers and 6 book chapters with International and National publishers and 2 Springer books in AISC and CCIS series.

Dr. Ruchi Doshi, Research supervisor at the Azteca University, Mexico

Bio: Dr. Ruchi Doshi is having more than 16 years of academic, research and software development experience in Asia and Africa. Currently she is working as research supervisor at the Azteca University, Mexico and Adjunct Professor at the Jyoti Vidyapeeth Women’s University, Jaipur, Rajasthan, India. She is interested in the field of Machine Learning and Cloud computing framework development. She has published numerous research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and conferences. She is Reviewer, Advisor, Ambassador and Editorial board member of various reputed International Journals and Conferences. She is the active IEEE Senior member in organizing many international seminars, workshops and conferences in India, Ghana, and Liberia.

Dr. Preti Kumari, Researcher, India

Bio: Dr. Preti Kumari is a researcher in the field of Intelligent IoT. She received her Ph.D. in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering from Indian Institute of Technology (BHU), Varanasi, India in 2020. She also has done M.tech. and B.Tech. in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering. Her main research interests is in the area of Intelligent IoT, Wireless networking, Long-range communication, Deep learning, and Game theory. She has published the papers in IEEE TNSM, IEEE TSUSC, IEEE TITS, IEEE TVT, IEEE TGCN, and IEEE Internet of Things journals and conferences as IEEE WoWMoM’21, IEEE INFOCOM’21, ICDCN’21, IEEE ICC’20, and IEEE SECON’19. She has received INFOCOM 2021 NSF Student Conference Award by IEEE Communications Society (ComSoc).

Dr. Eirini Eleni Tsiropoulou, Assistant Professor at the ECE Department at UNM

Bio: Dr. Eirini Eleni Tsiropoulou is currently an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, University of New Mexico. Her main research interests lie in the area of cyber-physical social systems and wireless heterogeneous networks, with emphasis on network modeling and optimization, resource orchestration in interdependent systems, reinforcement learning, game theory, network economics, and Internet of Things. Five of her papers received the Best Paper Award at IEEE WCNC in 2012, ADHOCNETS in 2015, IEEE/IFIP WMNC 2019, INFOCOM 2019 by the IEEE ComSoc Technical Committee on Communications Systems Integration and Modeling, and IEEE/ACM BRAINS 2020. She was selected by the IEEE Communication Society - N2Women - as one of the top ten Rising Stars of 2017 in the communications and networking field. She received the NSF CRII Award in 2019 and the Early Career Award by the IEEE Communications Society Internet Technical Committee in 2019.
